OCR request - one time, 2 pages
Hi yall -- Can someone who has OCR software take my PDF file and turn it into something I can edit, please? It's only two pages long, but I'd rather not type it back in. I see some free OCR software out there, but it's all for a PC and I'm on a Mac. Plus the learning curve, etc (and I'm in a bit of a rush!)

It's an index, and I need to edit in more page numbers, cuz it only indexed half of the project (non work project - genealogy book).

Would this be something I could ask of someone?

Oh, duh. Nevermind. I see I can just CUT n PASTE out of it (previous file didnt' let me). Now I can put it into a text editor. Bye bye!

If you get a couple minutes to check it out for the future, k2pdfopt will OCR PDFs for you on your Mac using the Tesseract OCR engine. It is open source.

Easiest way to do quick OCR of a few pages is to use one of the many free web-based OCR services. A Google search will find them.

I'd also add: for a one-time project, AbbyyFineReader has an online version that you can use for bupkus, I think, or uber-cheap. As badgoodDeb solved her own problem, our help wasn't needed, but for others that come along, Abbyy really works the best, if you can use it.
