Kobo Aura HD dead?

Hi Folks,

My Kobo Aura HD started acting weird.

Below are the steps that lead to it not working.

1. After haven't using it for about 2 months I started it again, after charging it for 14 hours. At the first start it gave me the normal screen, but it wouldn't respond to the touchscreen. After a reboot it gave me a critical error, which I couldn't execute.
2. after having done a factory reset it seemed to respond again...for 2 minutes.
3. Put it in restore mode, see restoring in the display, but only 3 blocks are shown.
4. When starting it normally the display blinks black and white several times and reverts back to white.
5. Took the reader apart, wiped the SD card, reformatted and put a new image on it. Still wouldn't boot normally but the restore mode would run longer, but still freeze in the end. With the power connected the power light would remain lit.

If I take it off power I can't do anything with it. My wife has an Aura HD as well, bought it the same day, but her's is working just fine.

Any suggestions?

About the only thing I can think of is to try another SD card. Maybe leaving it plugged in after the factory reset will do something. That might let it continue instead of running out of battery. But, I don't think that will help.
