Auto-updating books

Say I have a series of folders of technical books that the publishers occasionally release updated versions (errata, new edition, etc.) for, and those folders get the updated files pushed to them (my Dropbox account). My (very limited) understanding of Calibre is that it looks at those folders one time, does an import and then maintains its own library from there on. How do I get it to look at / monitor those folders and pull updated versions as needed, without having to re-add everything and possibly end up with duplicates?

Thanks,

Monte

You cannot.

calibre doesn't assume it will be receiving regularly updated books!
You can add them as new books and merge the duplicates.

Well, nuts. With all the other bells n whistles it has, I kind of assumed it'd do this as well. Oh, well. Good to know I wasn't missing something too obvious

Thanks,

If you manually download the updated book, you can drag and drop IT onto the existing books details (pane) or into the formats section of the MDE.

This leaves all the metadata intact
