Unhappy Nothing appears on my Kindle

Hi,

I just got my Kindle Paperwhite 2015 yesterday and so sad, it seems like my Kindle cannot recognize anything, except for some books that have already been on my Cloud.

I transferred the file through usb cable but even though they are on the document folder, they don't show on Kindle. I also tried to send file via email and synced many times but nothing appears

I haven't tried other app like "send to my kindle" or Calibre because I'm using my company's laptop and it doesn't let me install anything.

I don't know what went wrong This is my first Kindle so I really have no idea

Have anyone encountered the same problem? Please help me, thank you very much.

Hi, First of all the kindle doesnt read epubs. So are you sending the epub files or the mobi or azw3 files to the kindle?

Kindle only recognises the following file formats:

AZW is the Kindle format, so most files you download from the Kindle Store will have an AZW extension. Note that some files might have a number, such as 1, 2, or 3, after the AZW.

MOBI, a file format developed by Mobipocket, is widely used and compatible with the Kindle Paperwhite. Note, however, that secure Mobipocket or secure MOBI files do not work on a Kindle Paperwhite.

PRC is equivalent to MOBI and is the standard file format for the Kindle family of e-readers for content that comes from sources other than Amazon.com.

TXT is a simple text file, such as one you might create with Notepad.

PDF: Your Kindle Paperwhite can display files in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF).

Thanks for your reply. I tried different types (prc, mobi, pdf) and nothing works. I also tried to register with another account but still

Thanks for your reply. I synced and checked many times under both Cloud and Device but they are not there.

Make sure you Moved them into the Documents Folder. Then do a Reset.. NOT Factory reset. Just reset. Hold the Power until it cycles to Reboot.... you see the picture with a kid reading under a tree then white bar in the picture that moves till its black ... Then Check see if that works.

Books that don't show up in the library list -- usually implies the indexer choked on one of the books. (This can happen if the book had bad markup.)

Delete all the books from your Kindle, and add them back one at a time, to see which the problem book is.

Then try converting the problem books to AZW3 (if it is already AZW3, reconvert it) and resending.

Thanks a lot and it works. I should have thought of this ultimate weapon.

I installed the portable Calibre and my Kindle works well with AZW3 file. Thanks a lot. I deleted everything in document, reset then added them back one by one like you said and everything was perfect. Thanks a ton

Sure thing.

AZW3 is a better (newer and improved) format than MOBI, and is less prone to choking the indexer.

Whenever possible I would say use AZW3. There's no good reason not to, unless you need to be compatible with devices that simply don't support it -- and every device since the Kindle Keyboard (and that too with a firmware upgrade) supports AZW3.

Actually I prefer to use mobi because I like the tighter line spacing the mobi reader uses. Also the azw3 reader likes to leave a lot of white space with justified text, a problem for someone who needs largish font as I do. For most books I read, I'm not losing much by way of advanced formatting anyway, so I just stick with Mobi.

Well, I don't know why your experience sideloading AZW3 would be different from virtually everyone else's.
Details?

As for Amazon sending ebooks, the vast, vast majority of my books download as AZW3, and I assume the odd MOBI was published and uploaded before AZW3 was a thing.
Amazon prioritizing MOBI over AZW3 would imply that AZW3 was not ever actually used or sent to peoples' devices, which is just silly.

Have you configured Calibre to send AZW3 rather than Mobi? By default it will send Mobi.

I'd estimate that at least 90% of the books I get sent from Amazon are AZW3.
