Calibre Viewer: Even if the setting is "one page" a second is shown
Hi.
I hope my question is ontopic in this category. I have a question about the Calibre Viewer (latest version for Windows). My settings: http://borumat.de/+screenshots/hc-20...6-07_36_39.png (show only one page) Result: http://borumat.de/+screenshots/hc-20...6-07_41_24.png (more than one page is shown) What can I do to make sure to see only one page please? Important: I don't want to set a maximum width in px. Because I like to use the following user style: body { max-width: 50em !important } If I would set a maximum width in the settings I would loose width, when I use a bigger font size. Thanks for your help. Sorry for my poor English. |

You cannot restrict the width of body using user css in paged mode. And that screenshot indicates that you are getting 1.5 pages per screen, which i snot possible unless you have something that is messing up the page layout algorithm in your user stylesheet.

Thanks for your answer kovidgoyal - and let me take the chance: thanks a lot for your great software calibre!
![]() As I wrote I use the mentioned user style: body { max-width: 50em !important } No other user style at the moment. What do you think about the idea to allow to set the width in the settings to a relative unit like "em"? May be I should explain, why I prefer a relative unit. With a portable device I have a typical distance between hand and eye. When I use a big display from my desktop pc that is different. Sometimes I lay back in my chair, than I need a bigger font size. Than I sit straight and near the display. Than I need a smaller font size. That is a typical use case, I suppose. I don't like it at all, when there are to much characters in one line. An the only way to set it to a maximum is a relative length unit. May be you like my suggestion ![]() |

If you find you need two or three different settings, you can create themes with those settings, then changing them would just be a couple of clicks.
Setting it in em would not help you anyway, since increasing the font size in the viewer changes magnification in the HTML rendering engine, it does not affect the GUI widgets, which control the width of the text. |

What a pity, that there's no way to realize a max-width in em in the viewer.
Thanks for your suggestion with themes. But I know from me, that "a couple of clicks" - instead of just Ctrl+ or Ctrl- will not be used in daily usage. Best regards ![]() |
