Long subject - sorry, but I can't get Calibre to use a sub-folder I created on my kindle to store all my uploaded ebooks. It always dumps the ebook into "Main" on my device, so I have to move the book folder manually to my created sub-folder.
I need to either make Calibre recognize my Kindle sub-folder, OR somehow make Calibre still see the book on my Kindle AFTER I relocate the book folder. On the other hand, Calibre seems inconsistent on which books it thinks are on my Kindle. It shows some, but most are not seen by Calibre. So I am confused and wish there was a fix. |

Can you explain what you are trying to do a bit better?
the Kindle can handle books in subfolders, and calibre can send them to subfolders, in the attached USB storage. But there is no "Main" folder. Once on the device, collections have to be managed via the Kindle UI. If what you are talking about is collections, that is. Which you haven't made clear. ![]() Also, calibre will see ALL the books on your device, if you switch to Device View. The "On Device" column only shows books that are both on the device and in calibre, and calibre will rely on heuristic matching to determine which books match. In Device View you can right-click and select Match Books to teach calibre which Device books match which Library books. Last edited by eschwartz; 11-29-2015 at 06:58 PM. |

I have the latest calibre, but there is no option anywhere for designating a folder on my Kindle. It only sends it to MAIN. I've looked pretty carefully for any way to set any other option and find none. And no, these are not collections, as Kindle thinks of them. It is ALL my ebooks in a single sub-folder (Main/Gary's Books/).
"Also, calibre will see ALL the books on your device, if you switch to Device View." And when I did a "Match Books", Calibre didn't match any of them. It dumped the names of all the books on Kindle (originally all from Calibre) with different names and so on, even though the exact same books are still in my Calibre main library. It's really screwed up. |

What "Main", the Kindle uses a folder called "documents".
And yes, calibre will match them if you use "Match books" to match them all, one at a time. There is no magic wand which will match them automatically, not if the metadata is bad, and if they have different names then the metadata is bad (or, not standard anyway). Once again, what are you trying to accomplish? I cannot help you if I don't understand your goal.Telling me what you tried and failed, does not help me figure out what your goal is so I can help you reach it. |
