Manually install 3.18.0 on H2O

Is there a specific thread with instructions on installing a specific version of firmware on the Kobo Aura H20 or the Glo HD? If my H20 comes shipped with 3.17 tomorrow, I would like to install 3.18 on it, not 3.19 since 3.19 has some issues with font rendering, and as of now, there is no Freedom for font control on sideloaded fonts.

If the H20 auto-updates to 3.19 tomorrow when it arrives, I'd like to go back to 3.18

Unpatched firmware doesnt have font control on sideloaded fonts IIRC.

BUT saying that, the patch is now available for 3.19 as well, mind.

(But manually - download the firmware, stuff it in <KOBODIRECTORY>/.kobo and disconnect)

You'd be best to update to 3.19 since the patches exist. The only known font issue is selecting Kobo Tsukushi Mincho for use with ePub. The solution is not to select that font.

After you boot your H2O and select language, connect the H2O to PC and sideload the FW.
To avoid upgrade to 3.19.xxxx you need to patch the firmware , connect again the H2O to PC, copy the "KoboRoot.tgz" to .kobo, you need to enable `Block WiFi firmware upgrade`.

To sideload 3.18.0 FW, download the firmware from here, and follow the Installation Instructions for Direct Zip Files.
Don't do anything till it finish.

EDIT: after you patch the firmware connect to internet and register, it check for update and say "you'r device is up to date...".
