stubborn Kindle
Hi,
I akm using Kindle Voyager with Calibre latest issue. When I change the cover of a book in the Calibre Library and transfer the change to my Kindle by opening devices and "Match Book to Library", I get the new design displayed in "Device" but not on my Kindle. This one stubbornly shows the old (previous) design of the book cover. Some books, miraculously, show the new design - I must have done somethimg in the past which worked. Question is, what? Fritz |

Covers aren't transferred when you use Match Book To Library.
Match Book To Library only affects calibre's ondevice cache which lets it know what books are available. In order to update metadata -- including covers -- you must resend the book. |

Thank you for your help. I tried sending to device - the old cover stayed. I deleted the book from the device and sent it again - the old cover reappeared on the device copy (!).
The book has AZW3 format and the custom cover was created by Photoshhop Action as presented in this forum. Fritz |

Are you having the same problem as in this thread? https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=262285
(I don't think so, or why would some of them work?) ... Because when calibre sends an AZW3, by default the embedded cover is updated. If the book is a PDOC, the *Kindle* extracts the cover. If the book is an EBOK, calibre additionally sideloads the cover thumbnail. Any way you slice it, I don't know why the Kindle would use the old cover -- or even how it could get the old cover. |
