Python error message when loading Calibre
Needless to say, I need . I did a system restore, and now when I try to load my Calibre, latest version (2.?) I get an error message saying:

Python function terminated unexpectedly
Failed to load icu with error: MemoryLoadLibrary() failed loading icu.pyd (Error Code: 1)

I am willing to reload my Python, but which version do I need for the latest Calibre? Also, will that fix the problem?

I went into my Uninstall/Repair and tried to repair my current version, but no change.

Right now my Calibre won't even load.

Uninstall calibre, delete c:\Program Files\Calibre2 then re-install it. Uninstalling will not affect your books/settings/plugins.

OK. I started doing that but I noticed the Calibre was 1.48 version. I noticed another thread where the 1.48 showed up even after downloading 2.x I am assuming it is a code that wasn't changed.

I'll uninstall now.

If you uninstall, then delete the folder (if it is still there) C 1.48 will be gone.

Note: if you are running on a X64 machine, you could have a 32bit and a 64bit versions installed. Each would need its own shortcut to start (there will be both entries in the All Programs section of the start Menu)

I deleted as you suggested, and reinstalled 1.48 version. All is well, including the plugin I had lost with 2.0.
