Separate Lines For Different Formats?
Need help with something please:
I have 2-3 different formats (epub, pdf, txt) of many of my ebooks in one of my calibre libraries. I don't know how or why I did it then, but the end result is that all of the different formats of each book is in one line each, with each format listed with a comma under "Formats". This was well and good for a while, but now I'd like for this to change. I want each format to have its own line in the library. And not just because I just realized that if I want to send, for example, all pdfs to a new library, I'll have to do it manually for each book. (Unless there is a way to do it for all of the books in my library and I'm overlooking it?) So, tl;dr: Is it possible to assign a new line for each format of a book instead of them all being in one line? If so, how? Thank you. ![]() |

Are you sure you really want more than one lines per one book? In my opinion, it's really not something to recommend, and I don't see any benefits. But if you want to store various formats as separate books, you could just add formats separately - Calibre will give you a message about duplicates, which you can then ignore. Again, not sure about the benefits.
If you want to send specific formats to a device or save them outside of Calibre, there are options available for that (just use the right-click menu). If you want to copy pdfs only to a new library, there is no direct option for that (from what I see) - but you could copy all or selected books to that library and then use the option 'Remove files/Remove files of a specific format from selected books'. |

Now select all the books (ctrl+a), and then do a save single format to disk and select PDF. Or you can choose Copy to Library with no delete - that will copy all formats, but then you can go to the other library and removed selected formats (alt+del). That said, I don't know of any reason to have different formats on separate lines, or in separate libraries. Added - ![]() ![]() BR Last edited by BetterRed; 11-17-2015 at 05:46 PM. |

in addition to the good advice
You can configure each device with a preferred format by moving that format (name) up the list or removing ticks, so even if the device supports format X, it will send Y because you put Y closser to the top |
