Settings / Customize the book list / Extra information on the book list. There are three settings in the resulting list, "Maximum height of [top | middle | bottom] line[s]".

@mgaillard: thanks for pointing out that I used the wrong summary string in the new max height options. I had it right one place, but wrong in the place where it really counted.

Yes, the summary does not make sense for the options. It looks like info about grouping.

As long as you've gone this far, could you go a little farther?

I always use "sync newer books" when I use a wireless connection. Could you add an option to hide the don't sync? I never asked because it was a small improvement that would have required a reorg, but since you are doing the reorg anyhow...

By the way, I think the settings menu is better. The top level has gotten so dense, that any time you organize it, it's an improvement.

By the way, I fully recognize that much of that complexity is my fault.

It isn't obvious to me how to do this correctly. The "sync books" option currently (and has for a long time) requires that the "wireless device" option be enabled. Having it separately controllable gets me into something like tri-state options or lists.

Perhaps the right way to do this is to treat "Sync books" as its own connection type. In that case both WD options would enable the WD settings but would be independent as far as the menu is concerned. Something like:

Wireless device connection []
WD connection with sync    []

with appropriate summary text.

The text is abbreviated because Android does not wrap captions for check box options, instead ellipsizing them (...). On phones like my N5 the caption "Wireless device connection" is within 4 characters of being too long.

Hmmm... possibly I could do it as

Wireless device connection
Standard connection   []
Syncing updated books []

What connection will be used for automatic wireless connection if both are checked? Is it possible to have the automatic connection use the sync books option and still have the option to do a regular wireless connect on the menu? The sync books option takes too long for me on a regular basis, but if it happens on the auto connection that wouldn't matter.

I was asking about the auto connection - since it's automatic there is nothing displayed.
