Thinking about an IPad Mini
My beloved Nexus 7 tablet died, I am thinking about replacing it with an IPad mini. Should I get the 16 gig version or get the 64 gig version. I am thinking that if I am going to get one to get the newest model so that I can get IOS updates for a longer period.

I am going to add another question. Which is better the mini or the IPad. Will the larger screen be better. I found the Nexus 7 great for reading ebooks but was a little small for surfing the web or typing emails. I have for the most part stop using a computer and just use my tablet.

Too bad Apple doesn't have an 'annual upgrade' (or at least biennial) plan for purchasing iPads, as they do for iPhone.
I think 4G is worth getting as well. I signed up with T-Mobile's free 256MB/mo plan, and it is nice to have that. I've only run out of data once in the year I've had my iPad Air 2. I use it to download ebooks, get navigation, a little web browsing so it is generally plenty. |

I do not plan on getting the 4g version just WIFI. If I need to use it away from home or away from a hot spot I will use my IPhone for my hot spot.

I have the iPad mini 2 64GB wifi and it's the perfect size IMO. Big enough for surfing, not too big for reading and a perfect size for taking out and about.

I have both an iPad Mini and a full-size iPad Air 2. Where the Air shines is in reading page-scanned PDFs (which I read a lot of) and magazines. For most other things, the Mini is just as good and is of course a lot more portable.
If I had to keep only one, though, it would be the Air 2, because it's such a great PDF reader. |

So I will look closer at the IPad air 2 seeing I for the most part want to replace my PC, and my old nexus 7 tablet.

I have both mini 2 and Air and use them both all the time. They are similar just one is smaller than the other. I like reading & browsing on both. But for movies or shows I use the Air. The Air is heavier of course, but still not a problem to read on, at least for me.
My Nexus 7 also died recently. Last edited by Wearever; 10-16-2015 at 06:56 PM. |

I have the original Mini and its getting very tired now, I think I'll have to pass it on to someone. I want the 4, I think, on the other hand I think perhaps a 6sPlus phone might be perfectly adequate for reading and browsing when out and about, on the train etc. and then, I would consider the iPad Pro for home. I'm actually rapidly reaching a point where a full OSX computer is becoming something I no longer need. (Though the mac mini as HTPC would be good)

I will be going and looking at the Ipads today, and see which I believe I would like the best.

OK I went to Apple store and played with the IPads. I am going to get the Mini 4. I just do not need the larger screen for what I am going to be doing.
Well my wife has chimed in and so it may be the IPad Air 2. Last edited by cvkemp; 10-17-2015 at 08:42 PM. |
