CuriosityStream - Anyone Using It?

Is anyone using CuriosityStream? It's a Netflix-like service for documentaries. It has over 1,000 nonfiction videos. You get unlimited ad-free viewing for $2.99/mo (SD streams) or $5.99/mo (HD streams). The first month is free.

I like this type of programming, so I plan to try it out.

Quote:
The mission of CuriosityStream is to provide an affordable, ad-free, online destination where the world's best factual television content can be enjoyed on demand and on any device by the planet's community of the curious.

Will be interested to hear what you think after using it. I remember being interested when I first heard the founder of Discovery Channel was starting a streaming service and that it would have some original content. Would have to see how much content is original or not available on Netflix or Prime to decide if $6 is worth it for me.

Looks cool. I wonder if I'd spend too much time watching it though.

Will do. I plan to compare it with Netflix and Prime Video. I'm already considering dropping Netflix, so Prime and Curiosity might be a winning combo for me. If I do keep it, I'll get the SD version for $3/mo.

For those in the UK, there's an excellent free BBC TV channel, BBC4, which is dedicated to documentaries, so there's no shortage of them. I must admit that I have an intense dislike of many US-made documentaries shown on channels like "Discovery". Everything seems to be over-dramatised, and they also repeat the "headlines"every 10 minutes, presumably where it was originally shown with frequent commercial breaks.

I found some free online ones too. One was

where I watched one on Richard Feynman

which was very straightforward and fascinating.
