Question Running multiple calibredb add jobs simultaneously.

Hi guys.

I have a large collection of ebooks I want to add to calibre, and I'm wondering whether it is safe to run multiple calibredb add jobs simultaneously to add them to different libraries?

Ideally I would like to have 2 -3 different calibredb add jobs running and the calibre gui open as I try cleaning up authors and titles. (Each one adding to/working on a different library).

I'm also guessing that this is an appropriate time to pass --dont-notify-gui to calibredb?

Has anyone had experience trying this? Heard of problems when someone else tried this? Have reason to think this will cause problems?

Other questions.

Does calibredb add exit non-zero is all error cases? (I noticed that the adding html files causes a lot of debug output to the terminal, and that could easily mean I miss any error messages).

Also does any know of a plugin to (batch) compare the embedded metadata in ebooks with the calibre title and author metadata and either highlight problems/assist with cleanup?

Thanks in advance.
Andrew.

If they are working on different libraries, it is perfectly safe. The key is to never have multiple processes work on the same library. And if you are using the GUI at the same time, use --dont-notify-gui (and also dont use it on any library that calibredb is running on).
