Where to get Sony desktop reader?
My laptop is dying, and I am in process of setting up a replacement laptop.
I've had the first laptop for several years, and have forgotten how I set it up to load and use the Sony desktop reader. And because I use calibre and made friends with Apprentice Alf some time ago I rarely need to bother with DRM. Now that Sony no longer supports 6" desktops is there any way I can get the Sony desktop reader to install on my new laptop? I have a Sony T1, T2, and T3 if that helps. I could use the Adobe Digital Editions software if I had to, but I'm old and set in my ways and would prefer to use the Sony desktop reader. |

I gave up using the Sony software when I moved to Calibre. Calibre manages Sony Readers very well. Plus, you can also manage your Kobo Touch with Calibre as well. So you would not need to use different programs to manage different Readers.

I do not need either of them.
Both my T1 and T3 are recognized by the computers (i have a lot of them) and I can freely copy the books between the two via windows explorer. The device then creates the additional information (cover, *.db etc.) by itself. |

you could try Sony's support site and see if they have a download available for your computer

Here's a link to the download page for version 2.4.01.10241 (last version) on Sony's site.

But if you don't use Calibre, than you would have to manually create any collections you wanted.

True, but I don't need this functionality. I can scroll very fast through those few dozens of books I load on the reader. I do not need hundreds of books. It only slows down the Sony and make even collections difficult to manage.
Keep it simple is my key to success. |

I do find using Calibre easier than using Sony's software and I have used Reader Library. |

Thanks so much 491mls and AnaemicOak. I have it on my desktop now. I had assumed it was no longer available through Sony.

Let us know if it plays nice with windows 10.
In 7, when I used it, it set itself to be default epub handler, IIRC |

I don't know Windows 10 at all well, but am trying to learn. But yes, I eventually got it to work as a desktop reader, though I don't quite know how. |

W10 uses different terminology is all. You use always open with this app, as all programs are now called apps. You can probably also still drag and drop books into the opened sony reader app. That worked in 7. I expect the built in Sony store links fail nowadays.
