Publishing ebooks on Google Play

Has anyone done this? I tried to figure out how to do it, but came up empty both in searching the site and in broader searches. Trying to find youtube videos on "publish ebooks google play" turns up nothing but app discussions (which I gather is the big thing there).

They do HAVE books, so there must be a way to publish, but I'm stumped. Anyone have any advice (even if the advice is "don't bother"

Most Indy's I talk to caution against publishing there as they have a habit of randomly slashing ebook prices by 30, 40% or more. Then of course Amazon matches that price and pretty soon across the board you priced out of your profit. Should you wish to continue, here is the info from Google on how to publish:

I'm never really considered it, but I'm only on Amazon for now anyway.

of course Amazon does the price match thing, but they too can change/discount the price should they deem to.

They can, ALL ebook stores reserve that right, but they do not have a reputation for doing it in large amounts. Google does.

Given this informative bit of advice, I think I'll be skipping google play for now.

I'm curious if there has been any changes. It seems Google doesn't take on new partners, are they revising their book store in some way?

They seem to have changed their rules again too which has caused some trouble for Wildside press it seems. I would stick to Smashwords and Amazon.

Or they may even set your box set to FREE. Then Amazon price matches.

What VydorScope said. It's not that Google play will price match (although I imagine they will). Google play will discount your book - you price it, then they discount it then Amazon price matches it. Besides, it's difficult to use and apparently nothing ever happens there.

Somebody else might have a different experience.

I read they're trying to get the ebook publishing / marketing fixed up so for a short while won't accept new work for publication
