I've written a book in iBook author and posted it on iTunes. I went to iTunes and downloaded it to my Macbook Pro. I want to locate the file so I can run it through Calibre and modify it for Kindle. Where can I find the file on my computer?

Somewhere in your iTunes library.
The problem is, that IIRC iTunes uses obfuscation on the book. I seem to recall it is mainly just unzipped into a directory named with a UUID, but if the book is sold with DRM then it will also be encrypted, and you will not be able to decrypt it. I think iBooks Author recently gained the ability to export EPUB? |

They're stored in your iTunes library in the books folder. Not sure if eschwartz is thinking of some other book system or what, but for most books it will be an regular ePub file & if it's DRM free it will open in ADE or another reader just fine. If DRM'd, at least opening in ADE, it will open and just show the TOC and blank pages.
