C67ML variable Cpu speeds?

Hi

Has anyone found a way to change the cpu speed on it? It looks like it is set to a fixed number in the kernel and I am wondering if there is a work around for this.

It is quite bizarre that they use a fixed number. The whole point of mobile cpus is that they have an efficient stepping cpu speeds.

I think Onyx assumed the device would be used as a typical e-reader where you open a page, pend some time on it, then turn the page and so on. In such case the CPU kicks in only to perform the operation from time to time while the most of time it goes to deep sleep mode. But... you are right... there should be at least potential possibility to change the behavior. I have not found a way other than kernel parameters reconfiguration (which I did not do of course).

It looks to me like the CPU is set to maximum speed all the time. No lower speeds seem to be available. This can't be good for battery life, though it keeps performance snappy!

Yeah no idea about why they have taken that path. I am not sure if they have their kernel sources available. I wonder if we could recompile it with cpu stepping.
