Recommended book list resetting

I tried to look some ten pages back in the bug thread and made a couple of searches (I'm new, so if this had been brought up somewhere else I wouldn't know where to look)

Some months ago (don't remember exactly when) I did a full synch after not doing one for a while (I'd only downloaded books from the store or the browser for a bit) and all the recommended books disappeared from the list. When I opened the page, whether from the store or the homescreen tile, it showed me the three book questions you answer to start getting recs. No other info got lost, whether from the store or reading life stats (for example the wishlist).

So ok, I think it's a one time thing and answer the questions, therefore getting 10 recs based on my answers. Next time I do a synch the problem happens again. I think it's a firmware bug and decide to endure.

At some point the software updates during a synch, and the recs are still there after, so I think it's solved. However the first time I synch after this the problem shows up again, but there's a tile saying they added 4 rec books. I click on the tile and the books are there, but after I swipe past them to look at the plot of the next it's as if the book disappeared? Next time I open the rec page it's empty once again.

Now the tile for the rec page shows covers of books I own from the kobostore.

When I went to see if maybe I was getting close to not having space left (I don't use a SD) the reader crashed. Probably not related, but I'm telling in case it's a database error thing. Problem is still there after crash, and I had 400 mb of memory left.

I'm also experiencing some graphic bugs with the Tiles of books, sometimes they're the wrong size and the "% read" ends up over the cover image. Solved by opening and closing the book again and probably not related, but wanted to share just in case.

So, has anyone experienced something like this? Is it a software problem or is it my reader alone? It's not really impacting my use of the device, but I'd still like to understand why it happens.

I hope this is fairly understandable. English isn't my first Language.

I don't know about the original recommendations wierdness. I remember getting those questions repeatably on one of my devices. They did go away, but I don't remember what I did to fix it.

The rest sounds like a problem with the database. The tiles being strange after a restart is a common symptom. They fix themselves as you use the device but, the database won't be updated properly.

You can check the database using a SQLite database management tool, or calibre plus my Kobo Utilities. If it is corrupt, you will need to sign out on the device and then back in. This will regenerate the database and redownload the books.
