content-error reporting - not working anymore
Hello,
I have submitting error-reports for amazon-e-books (highlight -> more -> report content error) but this seems to have stopped working. The kindle reports that the report has been submitted, but it does not show up on kindle.amazon.com. Is this known to be broken? (PW3, latest firmware) cu Andreas |

You might want to ask Amazon.

And yes the author had seriously violated not one but at least 20 various copyrights. Everything from Dr Suess to Disney. She told someone else well I found the images on the internet so I thought anyone could use them. |

The two publishers, Merriam-Webster and Oxford University Press, responded by taking down the Kindle format, fixing them and reposting them. It took them a few months to do it though. Last edited by Julius Caesar; 05-29-2016 at 11:19 PM. |

I would bet that several people sent complaints directly to the publishers. Thank you for saving others money. |

If one gets a book that is unreadable and is a big publisher,
Do not waste time on reporting content errors or writing a review. Do however, contact the publisher directly. Now if it is a small press or self published, then do use the report buttons and please write a review. Big names don't bother reading reviews and unless there are numerous complaints, Amazon doesn't do anything. Now the little guys do read their reviews so they might fix their books, if not then thank you for saving other readers. |

It's not unreadable but pretty annoying. One always crashed at certain locations and the other had missing linked end notes. There were end notes at the last half of the book but you couldn't tap the reference and be directed to the end notes. You had to browse the end notes manually which was pretty annoying.

Please do note that the second one would not be considered formatting or content errors. Yes, I agree badly done but it is servicable. It sounds like the publisher just didn't want to take the time to make it user friendly. |

I am pretty sure that this is still working. If you go to kindle.amazon.com, log in using the account associated with your kindle. If you go to "Your Profile", you will see a choice there (at the bottom left) called "Corrections." You can see there "Your Submitted Corrections," looking there you should be able to see each book with the different corrections that you have submitted. They usually say "Received on" or "Processed." Once they have been processed it means that Amazon has fed your submitted corrections upstream to the publisher. Some publishers are much better at working with the corrections. Sometimes the publisher fixes the problems, and then reissues a copy of the kindle book you bought. This has happened with me a few times. When you go into your normal Amazon account, and Manage Device Content, some of the books you have bought will show up as having a newer copy. You just re-send that book to your kindle. The system isn't perfect, but it does work ... |

I have been submitting errors since the 3rd, but they don't show. Maybe there is a lag time ? I don't really know. I am desperately grateful for my kindle and the books on it. (Please no more clutter books !), so I take care to submit content error reports for the books I love and rely on. I would be sad if the system didn't work. I'll monitor what happened to the submissions I made between 3rd September and today (the 21st). Maybe they are checked before being uploaded ... I don't know. |

That is exactly where I was looking for my corrections. But as I noted, they stopped showing up at all. |

Today (14th of October 2016) things seem to be working again regarding "report content error."
In the psychology world we use the term "overdetermined", meaning that the results that we see can't really be pinned down to one event. In a sense you could use the concept of a constellation of factors in action. We see a certain result, but there were a number of factors working in tandem, none of which we could see as the sole cause. What I did was to make a copy of the documents folder of my KV, then I did a factory reset. After re-entering all my login details, I connect the KV to the computer and copied back over the documents directory. So after much ... "fiddling" I got my collections organised to my liking, etc. Then I made a "report content error" or "signaler une erreur de contenu" on the kindle, and eventually the reported content error turned up on kindle.amazon.com. In that time, I contact Amazon support on amazon.fr (where I hold my account), and they tried to ring me, but the phone number didn't work (cause it's dodgy) and I live in Australia. Anyway, they said to call them. Before I did that, I checked on kindle.amazon.com, and the latest content error was sitting there in all it's glory. By way of additional information, after the factory reset, I upgraded from firmware (micrologiciel) version 5.8.1 to 5.8.2.1. At the end, what was the cause. I don't really know. In all likelihood it was the factory reset (maybe). It's overdetermined (multidéterminé). It could even be that there was an dysfonctionnement at the amazon server level. Who knows ? |
