Today I opened my Kobo Mini and found a "dead pixel" or whatever it should be called.
My mini is always covered by a case and didn't drop down over night. The day before everything was alright. What happened? Can this be fixed? You can see the "pixel" under the word "zu". https://www.anony.ws/image/DC1C Greetings and sorry for my poor english. Jan |

What worries me is that this line seems to be smaller than 1 pixel.
Maybe one of the pixels had a bad day and popped a zit. Do the white parts stay white if you display a black image there? |

Tomorrow I'll make a daylight photo. At the moment I don't have the right light-conditions.
PS: addicted to fantasy too, also from germany. |

The white/black parts turn to opposite. Not really white, but lighter. Maybe one pixel popped? |

I've not seen that before, in any case.
I hope that the damage won't spread & you can get used to it somehow. |

Burst capsule on the eInk screen. A relatively common occurrence. No, it can't be fixed.

Harry, is this type of display failure covered by Kobo's device warranty?

Unless they find a pinhole (literally a hole left in the display when you stabbed it with a pin) which would make it your own fault, I'd say your chances are good to get a warranty replacement...

Agreed. Should be a warranty replacement.

Thanks for your advice. But the device is out of warranty, I bought it 2 1/2 years ago. I think I have to get used to.
Thanks anyway. Jan Last edited by JaBu; 09-11-2015 at 09:12 AM. |
