Hi everyone

Hi to all of you. I got a Sony PRS 500 a few months ago and just ordered one more yesterday for $75 from the Sony reverse auction (on Sony rewards - 3rd wednesday of each month). I don't need one more but at that price it was too good a deal to pass up . I am surprised that it was the only item where a large number remained unsold even at the lowest price (less than half of what I paid for my first one ). However, the relative unpopularity doesn't sound that good for the future prospects of e-readers .

Maybe we should give it as a gift to all our friends and families - at that price, it seems to make a superb gift and we can do our part to encourage reading as wel.

Hiya! I'm on a Kindle, but I heartily agree with encouraging e-readership when and where ever you can!

Hi physdude and welcome to the Forum. I got a Sony 505 back in January and like it a lot.

And I agree, the more people we can get interested in eReaders and eBooks, the better

Could it be that not many people are interested in the -500 because the -505 is now out?

I wouldn't consider failure to sell a back-level device as indicative of the prospects of e-readers in general. That's like saying that because no one is buying a PC with an Intel 386 processor, there's no future for personal computers.
