Collection sorting

Ive created all my collections on K4Android and they have synced with my PW3 fine, however they wont sort into the correct order.

Ive selected collections in the first dropdown and title in the second, on the whole they are in alphabetical order as id expect but at the end my most recent collections seem to be sorted by no order whatsoever. Ive checked for spaces etc and they display fully in the correct order in the Android App.

Does anyone else have this issue and any idea how to fix it? Its only a minor annoyance I can live with but id still rather know.

My collections have usually seemed to sort in the order that I created them -- which is quite annoying!

@oblox You might apply Remove from Device to the collections which are not sorting as expected, then add them back (from Cloud). Maybe that will reset things. I don't see such an issue on my Paperwhite (2012), and I think the implementation of cloud collections is identical now with more recent Kindles (though it was not always so).

I don't keep any Collections on my Paperwhite, as I don't like the way they get presented in the same lists as Books: it looks cluttered to me (compared to Fire, iOS, Android). I appreciated it when they made it possible to Remove From Device (thus hiding them from most of the time). To browse them, I go to Cloud tab and pick Collections and browse them there. One can add/remove to collections even if the collections aren't 'on device', and I mostly use collections only to set reading status (currently reading/read previously/not yet read) so this system suits my preferences well.

Yeas actually you're right they probably are doing that which is annoying.

I'll try that but i'm sure i have already tried it, I like keeping all my books on my device so I can read whatever anywhere and as another backup and I sort by series collections rather than just read/unread and if not part of a series they just go in a collection with the authors name.

If you just select collections as the view they don't show among other books (all my books are in collections).

Yesterday i renamed a couple of my collections using the Kindle app on my android phone. These changes synced ok to my Voyage, but these collections always sorted at the very end of the list, despite the list being apparently ordered by Title. I had to rename them again directly on the Voyage for them to be in their proper place.

Interesting, I'll try renaming them on my PW and see if that fixes it.

Ok renaming put the out of place collections at the front of the collections queue and then id have to rename ALL collections on my device to get them in the correct order.

*Shakes fist at Amazon*

Why cant you just let collections work well from where ever you do them.

When re your display options? Mine is set to All Items - Collection. So I see all my starred collections first and then any books on my device that are not in a collection.

If I change that to Collections - Title then it still sorts as I'd expect (of curse I can only see the collections and not books without a collection) The sam goes for a setting of Collections - Recent , i.e. the collection I went into most recently is on page 1.

Yeah whether All items collection or just collctions they are now the few ive modified on my PW first and all the others last. No idea why its like that but Amazon have screwed up something somewhere.

Odd, nce you've modifed them is it sorting them correctly?

I.e. if ytou renamed one as AAAA, another as CCCCCC then another as BBBBBB does it then read AAAA, BBBB, CCCC , if you know what I mean?

Yes the edited ones are in the correct order but the non edited ones are now displayed at the end. So your method works it just means a lot of editing to fix something that shouldnt be broken.
