Weblink in Book Details?

Is it possible to add a link in book details (like an extra column), like the default author link details? I would like to link to Goodread.

Why not just add an extra column for it?

Change "Default author link template" to whatever you want.

But keep in mind that you can simply add a goodreads identifier and link individual books to their title page on Goodreads. Use the Goodreads plugin.

@Hamartert - if you have the Goodreads identifier (e.g. goodreads:1234567) in the IDs column - then you can use that, it will show as Goodreads in Book Details.

Or you can insert a url link into Comments (or any other long text column) using the link tool

Hit the button, paste the URL into the URL box, dress it up with a label - eg At Goodreads, hit OK. And you're done.

For Authors you can put an author specific link (eg their blog) into the Link field in Manage Authors - right click Author Name in Book Details and select Manage Authors

The problem with author links is that they don't follow the story but the library. Which means if I move a book from one library to another, the Auhor Evernote-link I've added disappears.

@Tanjamuse - indeed, when a Book is copied/moved the Author rows from Authors table in the current library are NOT copied to the destination library. Consequently one loses the Author Link and Author Sort field - the latter only matters if it was manually adjusted as in "St. John, Stephen"

For procedural reasons I always punch my Evernote links into the Author table in my "Final" libraries, so that's why I never noticed this.

However, it does explain why I've sometimes found myself scratching my head saying "I'm sure I fixed that Author Sort field", I do that 'fix' in my "Import" library. But they are few in number so I've just shrugged thinking - "Must have forgot to click OK" and 'fixed' it again.

Suggest you post a a request in Bugs : calibre requesting that when a book is moved or copied to another library and an Author does not exist in the destination library that it be created from the Author in the current library so as to preserve the Author Sort and Author Link fields. Let me know if you do, and I'll 'me too' it.

I'm surprised this hasn't come up in respect of the Author Sort field.

<rant>Maybe not many in the Anglosphere read authors with 'funny' names or they habitually hyphenate double barrelled names because some media celebrity says its OK do do so - even tho' their own family name hasn't been hyphenated for the last 250+ years.</rant>
