Is there some kind of "most wanted" plugin ?
Dear readers, I am sorry if this maybe exists but I don't know how to put it in search.
I am managing a lot of books and a lot of books will get a sequel or prequel. It is almost impossible to manage from within my brain all those "most wanted" titles for books that have not already been published or books I have to add to my shopping list. For now I import, for as far as possible, title and author in a thirth column that I call Buyed, or create an empty book with details and put a yes or no on it, but is there a more elegant way to do this ?? Example, I am surfing, and read about a book that comes out in,lets say over a month. I want to buy that book in the future, so I must place it in some kind of "most wanted list.." So I was hoping that there is a plugin that simply let me make a shopping list for books yet to buy, that I can later import to calibre as soon as I have it ? Now there are endless lists of titles and authors with books that comes out in a couple of months but maybe also in a year from now.. Most of the time I try to go into Google,Amazon,Bol.com and look for it,and if it is already there but not released, I add it to the online wish list, but for example Google is only adding it when it is already there, not for future releases. I hope with this long post, I explain a little bit what I am looking for. Last edited by Nick_1964; 09-03-2015 at 09:05 AM. |

@Nick_1964 - you can create an "Empty Book" - Ctrl+Shift+E
And you could add that book to a Most Wanted list that you previously created with the Reading List plugin When you get the book you would add the format file to its empty book record with Add files to selected book record (Shift+A) and remove it from the Most Wanted list. BR |

I found out this, it was kind of lost in translation.
The problem I have with it is , how to say..they are kind of lost between the more then 2000 books I already have. Quote:

I'm going to move the thread Library Management as it has nothing to do with a specific plugin - we don't close threads BR Last edited by BetterRed; 09-03-2015 at 09:26 AM. |

Some of the 'Adds' (add from ISBN) have a provision to include a Tag. Mine says: Wishlist
Note: Add from ISBN also does a Get Metadata for that ISBN as part of the record creation. 2 stones, 1 brook On the subject of Wishlist: Catalog has an option to prefix a symbol for things like Wishlist.'' eg +Title = wish list #Title = in paper Library |

As far as I understand, add from ISBN isn't always possible because some books and translations still doesn't have an ISBN number because they are not yet published but please forgive me as I talk rubbish. With the directions Betterred gaves me, i found something that work ,maybe needs some finetuning.. the alternative, open and make a file in Notepad as I did before and remove the books I have.. @Terisa, I read your solution but then: where to import, which format does the input file must have, and where to do that in calibre. I think it is better to change my version language to english in calibre,in the add a book there is nothing to find to import, and the translation is only half.. some lines are in my language (Dutch/Netherlands) but other lines are still in english or the translation is just literally but makes no sense at all.. I like and welcome all ideas but I think I keep the one from BetterRed because I can find most of it,and the shortcuts ![]() ![]() |

Here's a couple of slightly different takes.
1. When you know what the book's title is going to be: Go ahead and create the Empty Book BetterRed suggested, then add a tag that says "ToBuy" (or whatever) then you'll be able to use the tag browser to call up all the Empty Books that are ToBuy when you want to review just that list. 2. If you don't know what the title will be, but expect there will be later additions to the series, add a tag to a current book in the series. I use "*FindSequel." I use an asterisk in front of what I call functional tags so that they'll be grouped in the tag browser. Things like Wishlist, ToBuy, FindSequel, Paper. And here's an earlier thread (from 2008) called "Adding Wanted Books" Hope some of that helps. |

If you open labels, the translation talks suddenly again about a tag. But he calls the tag browser a filter browser to look for filters. And in the search for tags he is using tags, and filters together.. So in first I was thinking, nice.. ad a tag.. where, how,what... The help isn't useful, because there the same happens, the same difference in words.. So I first have to figure out, ok a tag.. how would the calibre translator call this.. then find the option.. but using words that are used in english to, the translator calls a tag a label, but that again is also an english word, then used filter which is also again an english word .. that is why I always try to find screenshots so I just know what nice people like you are talking about and how that function is called in my language, because really translated, a tag is not the same as a label... And in the same small screen at the bottom, he uses 2 different translations for the same thing: remove tag.. ( on the left with the green: Tag verwijderen, and on the right with the red coss: Tag weghalen) like deleting and removing.. |

It took me quite a bit of time to understand 'Tags' Tags are 1 to many sorting Labels applied to an object example "A book" can be: Something to read Something to provide weight when gluing something Something to raise you monitor with Something to for the Cat to sleep on (when the keyboard is in use ![]() Those all could be tags on the same book BTW the Calibre translation project is https://www.transifex.com/calibre/calibre/ If you can help with a better translation |

Maybe you should contribute some better translations.

I hope I can make myself clear.. A lot of time I stumble against people who say "use the help" or use this and do that in english, and then I must try to explain that the options they give, can't be find because they are lost due to wrong translations.. See the next screenshot, there are even not translated parts.. (see the blue enhanced part) it is sometimes so difficult when people say, do this, do that, search for that, when you have no idea to search because in the translation the words get whole different meanings... and then some people are a bit angry or irritated when I ask for a screenshot so I can at least do some comparisation.. Add my dyslection to that and imagine ![]() |

I understand.
![]() But just think of all the experience you are getting with what the options are supposed to be! ![]() Just something to think about -- if you think you can fix a translation here or there, go for it! If you can help people in the future from receiving the same confusion ![]() |
