Buy Voyage now or Wait

Is it being updated I wonder.

My concern is that new models are always better, i.e PW3 screen being dimmer than PW2 and the battery being smaller, I guess Voyage might get a new type setting image, but I know what it is now, decisions decisions

I got the PW2 less than a month before the PW3 and I am very happy with what I have. But I am one that makes up his mind to what I want and then get it and be happy with it. But to answer your question yes there will be a new voyage but just when?

The Voyage was announced in September and released late October/early November. Being that it is August I personally would wait.

If the Voyage does what you want, I see no reason to wait. It won't do any less if a new model is released.

I'm also going to be buying a Voyage. I think the best bet is to wait until later in the year. Either a new model will be announced and the price will drop, or year end sales will kick in and the price will drop.

Of course, I currently have a working e-reader, so I don't NEED a Voyage right now. If you don't have an e-reader already go for the Voyage rather than settling for something less.

Yes, I read this morning (don't remember where) that some Amazon customers were getting a $50 discount offer on Voyage today. But apparently, I'm not among them. I was ready to buy at that price.

My PW1 is annoying me with its slowness and I'd like to replace it, but at this point I'm prepared to spend $200 only for a Voyage 2. If there is no V2, it will take some sort of price reduction to get me to buy a V1.

I spoke to a representative from Amazon working at Best Buy when the Paperwhite was first released. She told me that only the Paperwhite was being updated this year, but that the Voyage would get the new typesetting and Bookerly font by firmware update later in the year. No guarantee here, just repeating what I heard.

I just received my kindle voyage today. I did get the email for the $50 off.

I had been looking at it over the past two weeks and I know Amazon tracks what you view. I'm not sure if that helped trigger the voyage149 code they sent me or not. The only thing that would make me regret the purchase would be if they added a headphone jack for text to voice on the next version.

I just ordered a Voyage for myself--I also got a code from Amazon, but only for $30 off. Now I feel slightly slighted

But I'm still excited to receive it--supposed to be here on Monday. I've been wanting a Voyage since they first were announced, but since I had a fully functional PW2, couldn't justify it to myself. With the $30 discount and some Amazon giftcards I've been hanging on to, I finally pulled the trigger on the purchase.

Wait for the new one to see if they've fixed the screen lighting problems. All of the current ones have the lighting issue which really bothers many people. That said, you could always just order one and return it if you can't stand the screen issue.

Not completely true I have been in the Dallas area Best Buy when Amazon representatives were there show the kindles and explaining them and their Amazon services. So it is very possible.
