Help for today
Was planning of going into the city today to buy my first Ereader. Was looking at the Kobo glo hd as it comes with a free sleepcover for $179! But in todays news paper a retailer has 10% of the Amazon Kindle range so now the new paperwhite 300PPI is also $179 (no sleepcover)!
So what do i go with? Have been reading many posts on this forum about both ereaders! Many had early problems with the glo hd but with firmware update looks like its fixed, and people say kobo is better for a range of places to buy books! Where kindle has its reputation as being #1! Please help. Its Doing my head in, cheers |

I find Amazon easier to navigate than Kobo.
Do you like to read e-books? Where are you planning on reading e-books? What country are you in? Amazon also has a basic unlit kindle for $79 in the US. |

Both make decent devices. I guess if it was me I'd look at the features of both and see if either had anything that was "must have" for you.
Also while many (most?) here on MR have no problems removing DRM and converting books from various formats you may or may not be. If you plan to do that then the store the device is tied to doesn't matter, if you plan to pretty much always buy from the store your device is tied to be sure to look up some books you're interested in and compare prices. In some countries and/or from some publishers Amazon can be a lot cheaper. The reverse might be the case for some other countries. |

Cheers guys! Cinisajoy never used an Ebook. I read mainly on work breaks, live in Australia.
Reason i am looking at ebook readers, i enjoy reading mountain climbing books, and my local book shop can take up to 3 weeks to import from the USA! But all books are on ebooks! |

Otherwise, they are both good devices, with slightly different feature sets, so it depends what matters most to you. |

Since you are down under, I would recommend a kobo.
I think you will like e-books. |

Well went with the Kobo Glo Hd and it did come with the new HD case!
Now do most pay for Ebooks with there normal visa/credit/debit cards or do i purchase a visa card from the post office (low amount on it)? Are most book web sites safe? As i hate spending over the net. Thanks |

We got a prepaid to buy something from Hong Kong. Turns out, the card was only good on US sites due to a global fee. I don't know about banking in Australia, but you can always apply for a low limit credit card from your bank. |
