I know what you are thinking: Duh! Well yeah, but Japanese is really hard to read. I had to fill in the country I reside in in order to register my Kindle, but when I go to the app store it is too hard to read. Any English speaking Japan residing users know how to get English for the app store?

Your first mistake was putting Japan as the country where you reside. I'm guessing you're not Japanese as you can't read it. Unless you need a VPN to be able to do it, I would put your home country as where you reside. Unless Amazon is like Kobo and they KNOW that you're in Japan.

Yes, I think that was my first mistake, but maybe inevitable. As I buy from Amazon more than occasionally, they would know I'm living in Japan, - that is if the Kindle branch is connected to the Amazon store branch. However, on the computer I can get the Japanese Amazon site in English. I'm a new Kindle user, so I don't know a lot of things yet.

I suggest then that you use the Kindle browser to access the Amazon.jp App store for now or see if you can transfer your Kindle registration to Amazon.com still with a Japanese address but paying in US$ rather than Yen.
