Danish libraries lends ebooks to everyone except those with E-ink readers

Yup - I can't use my Kobo Aura HD. If I want to borrow an epub, I would have to buy a stupid tablet so I can download their stupid "app".

But it makes sense, since almost nobody here owns an e-reader. Which again is because the retailers didn't believe there was a market for those strange e-ink thingies. Gah - why does my country need to be so backwards?

If you're talking about www.ereolenglobal.dk it would seem to be another Overdrive based setup. They talk about applications for IOS, Android and Windows, and needing ADE.

If this is the case, it should be as simple as plugging your Kobo into your PC, ensuring that it is authorized within ADE and then transferring the downloaded material to your Kobo.

I will admit though I don't seen any mention of ADE at www.ereolen.dk

Have you gone through the whole process of borrowing a book yet?

My local library has a number of ebook providers as well as Overdrive, they are all pushing me to use their silly apps to read the books. But once I have borrowed a book they all have an option to download with ADE too.

okay, still no E-ink on www.ereolen.dk - but www.ereolenglobal.dk do support it! :-) There's no books in danish there, but found Earthly Delights by Kerry Greenwood - downloaded it without any trouble!

Thanks for the help - not sure I would have found www.ereolenglobal.dk on my own!

Here in Norway you definitely have to go by way of the library app, ebokbib. I don't think there's any ADE component there, presumably to keep costs down.
It works sort of OK, except for the reading experience, which is marred by the lack of a TOC and support for hyperlinks. I've succeded in side-loading the app on a Sony PRS-T1, but the flickering caused by side-change animations etc. was so annoying I couldn't be bothered to use it on that device.
I do wish the ereader producers would start to allow third-party apps on eink-devices.
