The Boston Marathon Bombing: The Long Run From Terror to Renewal by The Associated Press is a retrospective compilation of the noted news agency's coverage of the titular recent terrorist incident (Wikipedia), free courtesy of publisher Mango Media's AP Books imprint.
Apparently, this was their previous featured book from said imprint, and can still be gotten free from a number of stores for a limited time. Currently free for who knows how much longer @ B&N (also UK) & iTunes (not available to Canadians). Might also possibly be found free in certain regions via other venues listed on the publisher's catalogue page, where you can also read a Q&A with one of AP's journalists about these events. Description The Boston Marathon isn’t just an athletic event – it’s a citywide celebration and a rite of spring. Begun in 1897, it is the world's oldest annual marathon, run every Patriots’ Day. The course winds its way through eight cities and towns, 26.2 miles that lead from suburban Hopkinton to the Boston's Back Bay. For Bostonians, the race marks the end of winter, a time to pull out lawn chairs, sit at the side of the course and cheer a global contingent of runners. In 2013, the event changed irrevocably when two bombs exploded near the finish line, killing three people and injuring more than 260 others. A manhunt ensued that paralyzed the city. At its end, Tamerlan Tsarnaev lay dead and his brother, Dzhokhar, critically wounded, was in law enforcement hands. Convicted and sentenced, Dzhokhar now faces the consequences of American justice. AP Editions takes a behind-the-scenes look at the case and the journalists who covered it, from the start of the race through the death penalty hearing. |

Thanks.
Free at Google: https://play.google.com/store/books/...d=GB91CQAAQBAJ Edit to add: Apparently, although you can read online, you can't download an EPUB or PDF for the book from Google (despite being offered the links to do so in your library). With both ACSM files, I get network error messages (tried on more than one computer). I don't believe I've seen the same error message before on any ebook from Adobe. Will likely be free at Amazon tomorrow. Last edited by koland; 06-13-2015 at 07:46 PM. |
