I need Help!!
I have been rooting and jailbreaking devices for almost a decade, and this has me stumped!
I Have a Kindle Touch, FW 5.1.2. I can not get it to update (gets to the end then says issue found and stays frozen), can't get it to stay jailbroken. Every time that i restart the device it goes right back to where it was yesterday. Whether I add a simple file or delete it. I was able to Jailbreak it where the bottome showed *** Jailbroken *** but as soon as I restarted it it wa sno longer jail broken and all the unzipped files on the root folder were missing. if I try to "reset" the device it only restarts, does not reset. Thoughts?! |

You're either very confused, or your userstore is scrambled, or the storage device is borked.
So, before the nuclear option(s): * What do you mean by 'can't get it to update'? Update to what? When/where/with which exact error message(s) does it fail? * How do you check that the device is jailbroken? (... because there isn't any obvious method, besides trying to install a custom package). ---- Nuclear options: * Hard factory reset (a link was posted to that in one of the nearby threads just now). * Kubrick (cf. sticky) |

If needed: Tutorial Factory reset K5 using file
The jailbreak will delete the files it uses, cleaning up after itself. That is expected. As NiLuJe said, how do you know the JB didn't work? Did you get an error? Did you try and fail to install one of our hacks? When you say: Quote:

Error when installing a hack (007)
When updating from amazon files it just gets stuck at around 90%sh? My document file has over 100 files. If I delete them, and restart the kindle, they are all back. When I add the Kual file to the document folder, it shows up on my kindle and I can open it giving me the error that I don't have permissions, and when I restart then kindle Kuala is completely gone too. Thinking a memory issue but I don't know how to fix it. |

Yup, nuclear options it is, with the real possibility that there's a hardware failure at the root of the mess.

It can not be recovered, only replace the chip or list the Kindle for sale as "used, for spare parts only". (I.E: sell the screen to someone). - - - - FUBAR :: An old, pre-Internet, acronym but the phrase it stands for seems an accurate description. Last edited by knc1; 06-18-2015 at 08:20 PM. |
