Can you Edit After Publishing?
Lets say I publish my book via KDP and I realize I made a grammatical error, can I go back fix the error and replace it with the one that is online?

Yes, you can upload corrected versions of books to Amazon. Authors (and publishers) frequently do. I have several thousand books in my Amazon library, and generally get two or three updated books every week.

You are presumably having your book edited before you publish it, though? You can't edit your own work - it really is essential to have it professionally edited.

"Professional" editing from the BPHs is no guarantee. I've got ebooks from them that they obviously didn't even run through spell check. Like 1's instead of i's or l's midword. And this for a $10 ebook.

Yeah I made it and edited it best I could. But if something does come up it's good to know that I can fix it and re-upload it

My book was edited professionally over the course of two years and six complete revisions. My agent/editor and I collaborated on composition and even content. When it was finally complete, my agent abruptly retired for personal reasons and, though he offered to help me place my novel with someone else, I decided to self-publish this one.
With some help from my wife -- a great deal of help -- I performed the banal tasks attached to formatting and publishing my book and I rushed out to show it to my friends and family. They received it well, and within a few hours a close friend had posted a photo of her Kindle with my book opened to the title page. The title page -- the one page in the whole damn book which had never suffered the calculating gaze of my editor -- and there, where it was supposed to say "Copyright", it instead read, "Copywright". Long story short: yes, you can edit your book after you publish it. |

On KDP, Kindle Direct Publishing you can edit your book and cover and re-upload it as many times as you want, before or after publishing but each reload takes 12-48 hours to go live on the Amazon sales page. Not a biggie, but rather irritating at times.

That would be proofreading (sounds like conversion/ocr errors) not editing. I agree they should do a better job, but it's a different thing.
