Nook Survey - New Nook ereader?
I just got a request from Barnes & Noble to help them with a survey. I have pretty much stopped buying books from them (because they don't want me to back up my purchases), but I decided to do it. It has some strange questions, but contained pictures of a new ereader that they called Nook Glowlight 2015. It looks completely different than the current Nook. It had a bronze aluminum back and a white face. It said that it had a capacitive touch screen, but the screen was flush with no bezel. Some of the questions said the resolution was 265 ppi and some said 300 ppi. It looked interesting. I didn't think to grab a screen capture of the device.
Did anyone else get this? |

They're on my spam list, so I no longer get their bi-polar, mood-disordering emails with their mixed messages.

Haven't got an email, though I used to have an account with them and purchased books in the past. But... I'll never buy another book or another ereader from them, ever.

I really dont get email from them that often. Strange.
That said, if they have a better screen, that'd be good. The thing that worries me the most about my original glowlight is that the screen is fairly fragile. Doesn't take much to scratch it and screw with the glow function. |

I've had the New Nook Glowlight for 6 months know, it's great I still have my old one as a spare, for when I,m travelling. I find it a great improvement. Just wish they would reduce the price of some books inline with other ereader library's.

After years of support I left the nook ecosystem and went kindle. There would need to be a lot of feature catchup and commitment for me to go back.

I checked my BN email folder, and didn't get it. I still buy from B&N, mostly freebies, but I won't buy another ereader from them unless I know that I'm not limited to the ridiculously small amount of internal memory they allow for side-loading in the Nook Touch and Glows.

No survey for me -- at least, not yet.
I used to buy books from them, but haven't since they made it so difficult for me to actually get what I paid for -- although I still have the Analog/Asimov's combo subscription. I bought a second used Nook ST -- it was cheap and I want to see about "rooting" it. |

They've abandoned the ebook market and no longer make ebook readers. What compelling reason would there be to even buy an ebook reader from them - unless, of course, someone wanted to throw away good money on an abandoned ecosystem. (Now that WOULD make sense.)
I was heavily involved in supporting the nook: I bought tablets and ebook readers from them. I still think the nook ebook reader was one of the most comfortable and well-balanced readers on the market - ever. But they're history, like old clothes that can no longer be adequately cleaned. Sometimes, you just have to throw the things away, wash your hands and face, get past the tears, and go boldly into that beckoning e-market wherein better - and more mature - products now exist. |

I started with the Nook Color and now have a Nook HD+. I am still happy with the HD+ and will continue to use it until it stops working. I will not buy another Nook Device after this one though. And I have not bought any eBooks from B&N since they stopped allowing backups.

From the latest author earnings report: Quote:
At one time they actually listed indie romance titles 100 slots lower than their sales warranted to make sure they didn't show up on the first page of the listings. With indies making up half the indie market they were effectively sending fans of those authors (many of which were selling reverted ex-Harlequin titles) to Amazon. Some day maybe we'll see a HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL study of WHAT WERE THEY THINKING???!! ![]() |

I'm a library user and only very occasionally purchase from BN. I was considering upgrading from the Nook STR but like everyone else--finding it hard to stick with BN. Since I rarely buy from BN, I've not kept up with their business changes. Why have they imploded their e-book business? Okay, so they can't beat Amazon but why can't they just operate as a viable alternative?
