Boox screens really THIS fragile?

I realize these things don't contain gorilla glass, but I've accidentally set my laptop corner on my kindle multiple times with no issues:

Quote:
The LCD screen is very fragile so that a little external force can broke it. (like key hits, someone sit on it)
(sic)

Not just Boox, all e-ink screens seem rather, on the fragile side. The larger devices like the 8 " Boox I86 HD ML +, even more so. Remembering all e-ink devices use a glass substrate, apart from the A4 Sony reader, which has a plastic substrate. And it's not toughened Gorilla Glass either, just normal fragile glass, so pressure on the screen knocking & dropping from any kind of height onto a hard surface are all likely to be terminal for the e-ink screens on these devices.

I keep all my e-ink readers in cases, with hard screen protectors at all times. I never leave my devices in vehicles where they can be exposed to extremes of temperatures, so far, crossed fingers, they are all OK....

Because of the tougher glass or plastic on the top, it would take a pretty hard impact to break the substrate underneath. The more likely way to break the substrate is to bend or twist the case. So, don't hold your reader by one corner and wave it around. Don't put it on a soft surface and apply pressure to one of the edges or corners. Don't sit on it, or roll over on it in bed. If it has a touchscreen, don't press on it hard enough to bend the glass.
