How do I transfer bookmarks from older ebook apps to a current one?

I have a bunch of ebooks in eReader and Stanza that I'd like to transfer to ShuBook SE (or Marvin). They have bookmarks in them that I want to preserve.

They're Project Gutenberg free ebooks-- the eReader books are Palm docs (.pdb files) and the Stanza are non-DRM, ePubs.

Any and all suggestions and ideas on how to do this would be appreciated!

(While solutions that could do this en masse or for lots of books at a time would be best, I'd still take anything that let's me do even one ebook at a time automatically--as opposed to one bookmark at a time!)

Sadly, there is no interoperable standard for bookmarks and other annotations, so every app/device maker more or less does whatever they want. Several use the Adobe RMSDK method, which apparently can be transferred, but even then you need some way to export and import the data files manually.

Apple is not usually very good about letting you manually manipulate the data files for your apps.

Argh! I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. It means continuing to live in a 5-ebook reader world!

So, let me ask a different question.

1. How well do eReader or Stanza run on an iPhone or iPod Touch running iOS 8?

Both have issues under iOS 6 even--eReader slow to load; Stanza options crash and find doesn't jump to results. Of course, there'd also be the problem of a status bar in an odd place on those taller devices…

2. Alternatively, are there ways of exporting a list of bookmarks from eReader and Stanza?

That way, I'd have the info and in leisure hours (while TV watching say) could transfer a bunch manually.

I'm still using stanza in 8.3. on my 5S i have black bars top and bottom (so i always read with a black background) but on the ipad mini its all good. Dictionary is still unusable. Options have been working fine (even the one which crashed in 6) since ios7.

Havent tried ereader, i'm not sure I even still have the .ipa file. I'll check later.
[edit] checked, still in my mobile apps folder. Installed and working more or less. Like Stanza, it has black bars top and bottom on a 4" screen but it works. No crashes when using options. Hmm. Crashed on using + on the books page... Its auto-opening to Categories, too, which it never used to do. More investigation required. But, for actual reading, seems pretty good.
[Edit #2] But I have no idea how to get new books into ereader. So its probably time to let it go. I used to add books manually to some readers by using Phoneview on my Mac, but now, it doesn't even see eReader. Likewise, books downloaded from anywhere dont's seem to have any option to open in ereader. For me, at least, that is now a dead end. If I had to, I could still use it properly on my iPhone1 and 3GS, but I mostly read on my 5S...
