Compatibility of formats while buying

Newbie here,

Been wanting to buy a Kobo GLO, but when browsing this site, seems like formats and their compatibility is the main issue of e-readers in general.

I see it does not have mobi, does the file have complications if you format the file epub in calibre or any other programs?

Any other issues for buying other readers or staying on the path of buying Kobo are appreciated!

Kobo supports mobi, but epub is recommended for best typographic performance.

Rarely there are any complications, and you can solve them easily.

All the current Kobo ereaders use the same basic firmware. Apart from differences due to hardware, and some slight version differences, they have the same features.

While Kobo does support mobi, most people would rather jsut use calibre to convert to ePub format.
