Suggestions for cool stuff to do with the new Kindle Touch (7 gen 2014)

Cant you root it? Play games?

Basically anything other reading pdf's and downloading paid content from amazon?

What is jailbreaking? L

Any suggesting would be great, I've been reading through the board for a new user most of it goes over our head with the abbreviations etc

I don't think you can root an eink Kindle. Why would you want to? People root Fires to give them full Android, although if you want that, why buy a Fire in the first place? I don't know if any Active Content (games) is compatible with the new Basic (Touch). You can check on the product page. It will tell you which devices are compatible. Amazon seems to be getting away from supporting Active Content.

Jailbreaking allows you to install hacks, such as allowing custom screensavers.

If you want an eink Kindle for anything other than reading books, you are looking at the wrong device. PDFs don't work very well, either, because most are created for a larger page size than the Kindle screen. PDF is not an ebook format.

I coulda sworn I saw videos with people running linux on theirs, And downloading free content (ebooks) from amazon etc

That depends on the firmware. If you have the 5.6.x firmware you can't jailbreak or root it without opening the device.

I play these games on my K3 ... don't see why they wouldn't work on the Touch also.

Of course you can download free books. It already runs Linux, it's just not accessible to the user.

different firmware, big difference.

It sounds like you really want a laptop or tablet. Laptop if you want to run Linux.

I remember this Cool Reader with sudoku and takuzu (that are touch only) but all other games are universal I think.
