How to backup ADE authorisation

Sorry, tried the search, I am dyslectic, got some results of ALF new DRM tools, but that is not what I need.
I have only 2 authorisations left on ADE and need sometimes to restore the factory settings.
I have some questions, can I make a backup of the authorisation settings on my Kobo device to restore it later ?
Where to find them and which or what to copy ?
Ae they compatible with other Kobo devices ?
Like I have a backup of the settings, can I copy them to another Kobo device, so ADE doesn't count that device or are they device dependent ?
(As in, I copy the files from a Kobo Aura HD to an Kobo Glo, is the Glo then Authorised or does a backup copy only work for one device ? )

I have found a directory on my Kobo Aura HD called: .adobe-digital-editions
In there is a file: device.xml with a code.

Thank you !

There are actually two files; one flagged as hidden (and/or system I don't remember).

Just back those two files up, and restore them after the reset.

I am pretty sure that the authorization is valid only for one device. So I would recommend that you back up this file (I do not see a second file on my device [correction: on the one device that is authorized, there is of course the second file]) for each device. device.xml contains also the serial number of the device.

I think It is activation.xml and device.xml for what I could find.
Normally I don't need to activate it,because I rip DRM,and we use social DRM, but the library started with a service that will have some kind of drm, i can't remove that and want to share the books on 2 readers.
I don't know how it will be possible, but if I make one mistake I have to beg several days to get my activations reset by Adobe, and they are not much willing to.
If I was able to share the activation file, I could use the book on 2 readers..

Then we all could share your authorization file? And your books? Of course, only theoretically.

From my experience, the activation.xml is transferrable between my Kobo ereaders. I never bothered with the device.xml since it is regenerated during a factory reset. This came after I got tired of begging Adobe for just a few more activations.

That is exactly my problem, the adobe begging..they know exactly what I mean with more activations but they say that I have to unregister some devices and things like that..

Thank you for the information. I admit that I do not have much experience with ADE. I once authorized one reader out of curiosity, but then did not even bother to load a single protected book onto it. As is evident from my post (including the correction), I did not even correctly remember with reader I authorized. I was just expecting that any authorization of a device requires some device specific information to be reasonably effective.

In my country they normally use only watermark, which is no problem for me, I don't illegal share my books and they work on all readers and I haven't got the DRM problem in years, but now they start an "e-book all u can read service", for about 5 euro's a month but they state: if u reach the end of a book, you get a warning, after that you can extend the reading period for 14 days, then it is no longer readable, so I guessing they gonna use some kind of DRM, but I use two readers, one upstairs (Glo) and a bigger one downstairs ( Aura HD ) normally I rip the DRM from Google books (the only one here that uses DRM), but I think this kind of DRM for the reader club will be a special one that need authorisation.
From Adobe I understand that you can delete an authorisation, but then the reader must be connected, and I sold the 4 sony devices before I thought about revoking the authorisation.. I never needed them on my Kobo's.
I don't have to rip that DRM, if I want to read the book for a second time,I just re-add it again from the reading service.
I am not experiented enough to know what system they gonna use, but if they can disable them it must be some form of DRM.
There is no time limit on the books, only when you reach the last page,it will expires, no idea how they want to do that otherwise then with DRM ?
So it will be something like try to rip that DRM so I can use the book on 2 readers (not to steal them, as I said that will not be needed because I can rent them again), or stuck to Adobe but then I need identical authorisation.
