Lightbulb Free (Kindle DRM-free) Tropical Gangsters II [Geopolitical Economic Dev Travelogue]

Tropical Gangsters II: Adventures in Development in the World's Poorest Places by prominent former Professor of Economics and assorted government advisor Robert Klitgaard (Wikipedia) is his self-published follow-up sequel to his nearly-eponymous 1990 Basic Books-published (Wikipedia, now a division of the Perseus Book Group) global political/economics/development analysis travelogue, this volume focusing mainly on Central/South American and Carribean nations, free courtesy of the author himself.

The original Tropical Gangsters: One Man's Experience with Development and Decadence in Deepest Africa was selected as one of the 6 best non-fiction books of 1990 by the New York Times Book review, according to its blurb, and this new volume has a whole bunch of quoted praise in the preface by a number of academics and government/industry professionals.

Currently free (and DRM-free) for anywhere up to the next 5 days @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and also worldwide since it's apparently being done via KDP Select's exclusive-or-else program).

Description
Tropical Gangsters was named one of the “Books of the Century” by the New York Times. This sequel again takes you beyond the slogans and ideologies of international development to the complexities, absurdities, and possibilities of some of the poorest places on the planet.

If Tropical Gangsters was like a non-fiction novel, Tropical Gangsters II is a set of non-fiction short stories. Stories about corrupt states and cynical cultures, but also about idealism and practical choices that matter. Stories that abound in surprising dialogue, remarkable characters, and beautiful descriptions of locales as diverse as Bolivia, Equatorial Guinea, Haiti, Nicaragua, and South Sudan.

Like its predecessor, Tropical Gangsters II will appear on college reading lists, in international training programs, and on the bookshelves of readers who love engaging words and exotic places.
