SD card reading?
I suspect I'm just missing something really obvious, but having been all around the menus I thought I'd ask here.
How do I read epubs on the microSD card? I believe the card to be correctly inserted, the PC can read/write to it, device information indicates it is present and mostly empty. But none of the books there show up in LibraryBooks -display All. Do I need to check a setting somewhere to use SD card? Where? It's a new toy and I'm generally loving it, as much as my old Sony whose second battery is pretty much also dead now. But it would be useful to understand the microSD and then I'd never even think about space. Thanks! |

When a SD card is inserted, the device will scan it for content and add it to the database that the device uses. The books found will then be shown in the standard library view of the Kobo.

When you insert the card, the device searches it for books and processes them into library. The library list should show them. There is no indication whether the books are in the main memory or the SD card.
The books can be put anywhere on the card so long as they aren't in a folder starting with a dot. If the device info page of the settings shows the card is there, the books should have been processed. But, if there is a problem with one or more of the books that means they can't be processed. When that happens, none in the current batch will be added to the library. Unfortunately, there is no indication of which book caused the problem. You will need to remove all the books and add them in smaller batches until you work out which is at fault. What I would suggest is to remove all the books from the card. Then add one that you know works. It can be the same as one on the main memory as the device will see them as separate books that happen to have the same name. If you choose a book you have started reading, then the one on the card will show as unread. |

Thanks - looks like it was a batch issue, although maybe at the same time there's also an issue of adding books to the root of the card rather than in stacked folders.
Anyway it seems to be working now. Thanks! |

Putting books in the root should work, but, it has been a while since I tried on an SD card. I did have a problem doing this some time age when the card I was using had been formatted as FAT rather than FAT32.
