Converting large AZW3 to EPUB
I have bought The World of Ice and Fire as an AZW3 file from Amazon. It is a large book, 21.5 MB, with many beautiful pictures in color.
I converted it to epub because I wanted to read it using Marvin on my iPad. I was somewhat surprised to discover that the resulting epub file was only 6.94 MB. The content seemed ok, but in the AZW3 file you can use the spread and pinch gestures to change the size of the pictures. That is not possible in the epub file, and that is maybe the reason for the changed size? Well I can read the AZW3 file on the Kindle app, so it is not the end of the world. |

What is your profile set to?
If it is anything other than table then stored images in the book will be resized to fit the resolution of the device. If the profile is set to tablet, then images are left unchanged and it is up to the reading device to make them fit the screen. For most modern devices you tend to want the table profile to keep high resolution images. |

Thank you for the answer. Setting an output profile is new for me, but I will remember to use tablet in the future.
If I set the output profile to tablet, then the epub file is about the same size as the AZW3 file. But I still can't change the size of the pictures using spread and pinch. |

eBooks that have images that are too small for my H2O, I will read on my iPad 4 using Marvin s I can zoom in as needed. Yes, they may be fuzzy, but at least I'd have a better chance of seeing them that way.

Try converting them to kepub. The kepub reader supports viewing the images and zooming. Of course, if they are in colour, the iPad is probbaly the better option.

Jon: I was making a suggestion to YOU. I thought that was obvious as I was quoting what you said you did.
