Updates 2.20 and higher don't work!!!
All updates from version 2.20 upwards don't work. I get the following message (both for the 23-bit and the 64-bit version):

@josdb - At a guess I'd say something has gone awry with the file gui.json
Open configuration folder via Preferences->Miscellaneous and click Open configuration directory

That indicates your metadata.db is corrupted. The corruption is just not being encountered by older versions of calibre. You can fix it by following the instructions I gave in this thread:

That means you had a duplicate book. (It had the same id # as another book, probably duplicated by a move-with-file-lock. Sync programs, e.g. cloud storage, can do that.)

It means that more than one book in the library had the same calibre database ID. This frequently happens when the calibre library is on a NAS/network drive, because many NAS implementations cannot handle renaming files/directories using hard links. One failure mode is to create the new directory but leave the old directory behind. Calibre restore sees these directory as books with the same ID. It can also happen when using cloud storage and running calibre on more than one computer at a time.
You should check that book, author Spufford_ Francis, title Red Plenty, to see if the cover and all the formats are there. |
