Can you paste the whole debug info, not just one tiny fraction of what is needed to make sense of things?

Although if I had to hazard a guess -- you didn't update your plugins, and they are still trying to use the old code. Pretty much every plugin has been ported over.

Start calibre via the command prompt, using the command
Code:
calibre --ignore-plugins
and see if it works. Then update your plugins, and restart normally.

thank you for your assistance.

it seems to have been the epubsplit plugin, which i did not remember putting in there.
it's working now without the plugin.

thanks again.

well, i may have spoken too soon. today after starting up the machine, calibre won't load from the desktop shortcut or the start menu.

but, it does load from the command prompt. when i try to run the debugger today, there's no answer beacuse the program loads fine from the command prompt.

the program tells me that there are no updates available for plugins. i can't seem to find any way to force an update.
