Error installing Calibre 2.21
I'm getting an error trying to install calibre-2.21.0.msi:
"The cabinet file 'calibre.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package." Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 I tried rebooting and re-downloading the file, but get the same error. Anyone have a clue? Note: I've installed the previous 100+ calibre updates without any problems. Maybe I'll wait and see it I have better luck with version 2.22. |

Uninstall calibre, and clear up any leftover registry keys. RevoUninstaller is good for this -- but MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T DELETE YOUR APPDATA!!!
Then redownload calibre again. You could also try running the Portable version |

@yekim54 - Where did you get the download - this is the 'official place' ==>> calibre - Download calibre
If no luck with main site, try second alternative (it uses https) - your ISP may have cached a corrupt download, https should overcome that. PS : rather than Revo uninstaller which doesn't handle 64 bits apps and may indeed trash your configuration directory - I suggest a lightweight registry cleaner such as CCleaner. Did you save the download(s) you got from each of the sites and try comparing them?
I know we've seen some occurrences in the past of an ISP caching the downloads and causing issues. |

Usually the problem there was caching old versions for no good reason. It is far more ridiculous for them to cache corrupted copies.

However, I did note that after double-clicking on the *.msi file, the Windows Installer "Open File - Security Warning" notice indicated "Publisher: unknown" for the first two downloads, whereas, the download from Alternate Site #2 indicated "Publisher: Kovid Goyal". |

I suspect the ISP 'cache monster' only looks at the name, if its the same as something that's already its cache then it sends that. Looks as if someone distributing a hacked/botched MSI.
