Dieser merkwürdige Fantasy-Roman, von einem Briten, der eigentlich William Thomas (!) mit Vornamen hieß, innerhalb dreier Tage und zweier Nächte (!) in einem Zug auf Französisch (!) im Jahre 1781 niedergeschrieben, erscheint hier in der Übersetzung von Franz Blei (1907).
Das Cover verwendet eine Illustration mit dem Titel "Vathek motionless with surprise discovering Nouronihar extended on the ground trembling und pale" des britischen Künstlers Richard Westall (1765-1836).
