I doubt this has anything to do with 2.21, it indicates your calibre library database is corrupted. CLose calibre, open the calibre library folder, delete metadata.db, now start calibre, the list of books will be blank. Right click the calibre icon in the calibre toolbar and select Library maintenance->Restore database. calibre will automatically rebuild metadata.db.

That did it, thanks.

I did have to manually delete and re-add a number of books...i.e., move the files out of the Calibre library directory and then add them back in through Calibre. Not sure why that was necessary..?

Lost (orphaned) folder entries are usually the result of something going wrong;
Something in the OS blocked the deletion (left over after a rename. You should discover a 'duplicate' of this book)
Cloud sync while library in use
Multiple simultaneous access
The user was messing with that file(name) via the OS
Single Access, but with multiple OS (eg Linux and Win XP )

And the big one: having your calibre library on a NAS or network drive.

Cool Calibre 2.21 problem

I have the same problem as Medieval Guy, but my line numbers are mostly different.

I am trying Kovid Goyal's suggestions to remove the errors. Will reply after attempt to fix.

@tbullock - In the error trace Medieval Guy posted, the most important line is the last one:

CorruptError: CorruptError: database disk image is malformed

If you're getting a different message there, then then you probably don't have the same problem. And if that's true then it would be preferable to create your own thread and post the complete error trace.
