Need help with viewing .djvu with Calibre-64bit-2.20.0
Hi everyone, I can't view .djvu eBook files with Calibre-64bit-2.20.0 on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate? Everywhere they say Calibre reads .djvu eBook files. I've read all the Calibre's help files (manual) and the related posts here, but have not been able to sort out the problem yet! What's wrong with me?! Please instruct me step-by-step in a very simple and clear language. Thanks a million in advance |

I believe you will find that calibre only supports DJVU files that contain actual text.

Sorry, I forgot to quote the message below I received when attempting to view a .djvu eBook file:
"ERROR: No associated program Windows will try to open book.djvu with calibre itself resulting in a duplicate in your calibre library. You should install some program capable of viewing this file format and tell windows to use that program to open files of this type." |

I haven't installed any independent/separate pogrom capable of viewing .djvu file format because the Error message reads, "Windows will try to open book.djvu with calibre itself" and because Calibre's documentation says it can handle and support .djvu file format. Am I mistaken? Do I have to install an independent/separate pogrom (besides Calibre) capable of viewing .djvu file format so that Calibre be able to show .djvu file format? Please be kind enough to elaborate on this as I'm of very poor computer knowledge. Thank you very much in advance for your kind help and attention. |

In truth the calibre viewer can only read EPUB files, if you try to read any other format (e.g. PDF) calibre will do an 'on-the-fly' conversion to EPUB - the results of which may or may not be satisfactory. The DJVU format is most often used for scanned documents, thus there often just a bunch images, which don't convert well to EPUB.
So you needed to install a native DJVU reader (Peter T posted a link) and make sure it opens DJVU files in Windows/File Explorer - providing that is in place then calibre will open DJVU files with that program. BR |
