Kobo Glo Windows 7 USB device not recognized
I had to change computers due to a fried mother board.
HP8200 work station running windows 7 When I plug it in the option to continue reading or manage library comes up when I select manage library it tries to install the driver and comes back with "USB device installed is not recognized". I've tried every cord and port available no change. I can put it on another computer(s) also running windows 7 and it is recognized every time. What gives? I don't want to have to use my work computer to get books that's a no no. Using the wife's machine is courting disaster as she has so much "stuff" on it. I shouldn't have to buy a new machine just to manage my kobo. |

Have you tried other devices with your new laptop? It may be a fault with the laptop and not the kobo.

If it is working with the PCs, then it is something in this PC. If you have tested with other cables and other ports, the most likely problem is the driver didn't install properly. Get a copy of USBDeview. When you run it, it shows details of all USB devices that have been connected. Find all references to Kobo and delete them. That can clean things up so that on the next connection, the drivers will install properly.

The computer I'm using is a HP xw8200 work station. This is the only computer that the Kobo won't connect 2. I've tried 4 other desktops and 2 laptops without any issues.
I've tried deleting/removing all USB hubs and usb connections with device manager. Then scanning for new hardware. It must just reinstall the same drivers. Same when I remove them all with device manager, unplug the USB ports from the mother board and reboot. So there is NO USB devices installed. Shutting down plug the usb ports back in and restart and when I reboot they are reinstalled but when I plug the KOBO Glo in and select mange library it's unrecognized. I will try the USBDeview and see what happens. But there shouldn't be any references to Kobo as it has never been recognized on this machine. |

If the kobo works on the other desktops and laptops it's definately not an issue with the kobo.
