Moving Library from PC to Mac

The user manual and Google searching are pretty clear about switching computers but I wonder if there are any additional specifics about switching from Windows to Mac that anyone would like to share. I am a brand new MAC user which is adding another layer of stress to this migration. Also curious if the library files I am backing up contain what I need as far as bringing my custom columns, plugins, etc., over to the new computer.

Thank you in advance for any advise you wish to relay.

@DelSol9561 - you might want to copy the configuration data over too.

I would secure the default configuration data that the MAC install created first, in case something goes wrong or doesn't work.

Then copy contents of the location that Preferences->Miscellaneous->Open calibre configuration directory on the Windows system opens, to the equivalent location on the MAC system.

I've successfully copied the config data both ways - from Windows to Mac and Mac to Windows - IIRC I had to reconfigure the library locations.

As BR said -- the config data *should* be compatible.

As far as the actual library structure goes, I recommend always using Restore database (see first link) when switching OSes, just in case -- there can be subtle problems caused by e.g. filesystem/OS case sensitivity, and Restore will guarantee the database correctly points to all the ebook files.
