Easiest way to generate a new cover using cli tools only?
I use the CLI tools to convert pdfs and edit epubs. It seems like every time I convert a pdf to epub, something gets messed up in the Title or Author fields and the generated front cover is wrong. The rest of the pdf junk I have no problem with. It's no biggie to go in and correct the name and author fields in thbe epub with the metadata editor, but regenerating a new front cover with the updated information is a hassle. What I've been doing is to remove the original generated cover and its associated jpeg, do an epub-to-epub conversion, delete the old version, then proceed to work on the version with the newly-created front cover. Is there an easier way? Suggestions using CLI only, please.

Well, just in the GUI, you can always create a new cover and do Embed Metadata.
![]() I don't believe there is a CLI entry point for Generate Covers. You should be able to do it with a calibre-debug script though. ![]() |

Why dont you just specify a title and author in your conversion command line.

Works great - just as expected! Thanks, Kovid, for helping me clear the cobwebs from my mind.
